This group prepares bags for our shut-ins and homebound members three times a year. Please call the church and find out how you can help by assembling or delivering these items and be blessed by the wonderful reception you will receive from those who will experience God's love through your efforts.
Gathering Place is a program for those with memory impairments, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke and other disabilities. Once a month on the 2nd Friday at 11:00 a.m., a party is held with various activities: crafts, entertainment, games, conversation circle, and a wonderful lunch. We have a different theme every month. Caregivers are encouraged to take some time for themselves while their loved one enjoys a fun outing. For information please contact Beth Statesir at 281-989-8471. Please join us!
Layettes for Babies born at LBJ Hospital. Over 300 children are born into homes of poverty each month at this hospital. Volunteers have so far made diaper bags, knitted caps, receiving blankets, and bibs. Still needed are bottles, cloth diapers, bottle brushes, pacifiers, powder, lotion etc. to finish filling the diaper bags. Many of these moms are very young and have been disowned by family. The opportunities for both fellowship and service include donating any of the above, or getting together with others to assemble the layettes. Call Julia Pearce at 281-360-4142 or Mary Magnusson at 281-361-9298.
New Member Sponsors
When persons decide to become members of the KUMC community of faith, a sponsor comes forward who will help them to become more deeply involved in the life of the church. A sponsor typically stays in contact with the person or family for about six months. Please contact the church office at (281) 358-2137 to find out how to serve in this role in our church family.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
The Prayer Shawl Ministry delivers over 100 shawls per year, and the need for shawls is greater than we can supply at times! We invite anyone interested in knitting or crocheting to join us on Wednesdays at 1:30pm in the prayer room. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, there will be someone to help you get started. This is a wonderful way to serve, make new friends and have a fun fellowship. If you would like to add a person to the recipient list for a shawl, please contact Paula Cade.
Serving hearts is a lay led ministry to offer loving assistance with short term needs.Volunteers have cooked meals, provided transportation to doctor's appointments, sat with shut-ins on a very limited basis, or picked up prescriptions or groceries for homebound persons. Please call Anita Haun at (281) 358-0725 to volunteer or to find out more information about this program.
