Evangelism
Every Christian is called by God to “make disciples.” At Kingwood UMC we have a special team that oversees and organizes the evangelism ministry of the community. We welcome guests of our congregation and invite them to learn more about our church home. Through friendship, education, and fellowship ; the evangelism team strives to promote a welcoming community that shares the love of Christ with all and strives to build the Kingdom of God, one heart at a time.

The Evangelism team is involved in ministry to the larger Kingwood community. From delivering Bibles to advertising in the local papers, to hosting a web page, to sponsoring the adult chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes; this team of dedicated people is striving to spread the Good News about God and His love to everyone in Kingwood.

God gave Jesus authority over heaven and earth. On the basis of that authority, Jesus told his disciples to make more disciples as they preached, baptized and taught. With this same authority, Jesus still commands us to tell others the Good News and make them disciples for the Kingdom. As Christians in an ever changing world, we strive to discover new ways to share God’s love with others.

For more information or if you would like to participate, call Paula Kirby.

Worship Greeters
These people greet persons coming to worship services. Contact Paula Kirby if you would be willing to be blessed by serving as a greeter.

Visitor Care Team
Our visitor care team helps to make those attending worship welcome and extends invitations to return. This portion of the evangelism efforts of the church has two focus groups, one is the phone care team that calls first time and repeat visitors and the second is the materials delivery team that takes homebaked bread and printed materials about the congregation to families who have visited KUMC. To find out how you can help in these areas please call Paula Kirby at the church offices.
Family Movie Night
A wonderful time of family fellowship, movie nights are held the second Friday evening of February, April, October and December at 6:30pm. We strongly encourage KUMC families to invite your friends to a more "casual" church event. We feature G-rated movies and provide free popcorn and drinks. Pizza is also ordered for $2.00 per person. We would love to have you and your family join us in the KUMC gym for some Friday evening fellowship!
Water Distribution
From July Fourth celebrations to Super Bowls our water bottle distribution team has been active. On these daring outings we go out into the community and hand out free water bottles which have a message on their label about the love of God that is offered to them without price. Our most daring outing in 2004 was our hand outs on Super Bowl Sunday. Our youth group also helped on July 4th and handed out water behind our KUMC float.
Sunrise Service Service
Each year at the Easter Sunrise Service we are actively distributing drinks and breakfast goodies to all those in attendance. Just another way to serve those who may just need a little prodding to find a community of love at KUMC and grow in their relationship with God.
Other Endeavors
The evangelism team is also actively involved in many areas of the life of the church. We help to maintain the KUMC website and make name tags for the people who make up our community of faith. We are involved in keeping Alpha and First Wednesday Fellowship alive and fresh and serving as an entry point for people to begin to embrace the relationship offered to them by God through Jesus Christ. We help create and distribute printed materials such as the Kingwood Kompanion for visitors. We support Bring a Friend Sundays and Joining Sundays and overall try to encourage our congregation to reach out to their friends and neighbors by sharing their faith and inviting them to worship and other events in the life of the community.
