Music Ministry
The Music Ministry at Kingwood UMC is a community of faith organized to aid in the proclamation of the Gospel through the art of music. Our programming is designed for individuals from pre-school through adults. Groups gather weekly to learn more about music and scripture and to share their Christian witness through their talents.
Throughout the year, the Music Ministry offers opportunities for participation as soloists, in ensembles, musicals, dramatic presentations, music education and voice classes, and other special programs. Brass, woodwind, and string ensembles and instrumental soloists also perform during special seasons of the church year such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.

We encourage all members of the congregation to share their musical talents. Also needed are adult helpers in the areas of accompanists, snack coordinator, carpooling and choir parents. Children's Choir The Children’s Choir provides an early introduction to music and strives to help our children develop a life-long appreciation for music. The grade-level choirs are available for children four years old through fifth grade. Each of these choirs sings at selected Sunday worship services and at special seasonal services. The Children’s Choir program holds rehearsals from September to May on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM.

Chimes and Handbells KUMC does offer children the opportunity to learn chime and handbell ringing. Any child in the 4th or 5th grade interested in ringing should contact Gary in the church office.

MAD Week Each summer a special weeklong Music, Arts, and Drama (MAD) Week is offered to give children the opportunity to explore their musical gifts in a fun environment. The week usually culminates in teh presentation of a program that the children have been working on throughout the week.

Song Play Song Play is our music class for children 9mos - 3yrs old. It is a Mommy & Me (or Daddy, or Grammy, or Auntie, or friend) participation class. We sing, dance, play instruments, and have a great time with music! The children learn listening skills, rhythm, and pitch through song. Classes are broken up by age brackets.
