Weekday Activities

IF: Gathering

February 9, 6-9 pm
February 10, 9 am – 5 pm

What IF we followed God with perseverance instead of insecurity? At IF:Gathering 2018, we will look at one of Paul’s letters to Timothy as he reminded him of the power and responsibility of sharing the gospel. We want to give God away in the very places He’s put us, so we’re going to gather for the purpose of remembering why following God and making disciples matters. We all get tired, we all wonder if what we’re doing matters, so IF:Gathering 2018 will be the reminder–it will be the celebration. The work we’re doing to share the gospel on the earth is worth it and God DOES move through the little things that nobody sees. Join us!

Women’s Bible Study | Leta Barksdale & Vicki Smith

Room # E200/201

Join the Thursday Women’s Bible study this spring as we explore the lives of the kings and prophets of the Old Testament through Jessica LaGrone’s study Set Apart: Holy Habits of Prophets and Kings. Discover the spiritual practices of the intriguing men in 1 and 2 Kings who stood out because of their close walk with God! In this study, Jessica LaGrone explores the specific holy habits of these prophets and kings, what the Bible has to say about their faithful disciplines, and how we can follow their example.

This will be followed by another LaGrone study Miracles of Jesus: Finding God in Desperate Moments where we will explore many of the miracles of Jesus. What they all have in common is human desperation. Our desperate need for Jesus opens us up to the dramatic power of God in the form of miracles.

Open to women of all ages, the Thursday Women’s Bible Study class will begin Thursday January 25, 2018 and will meet each Thursday for 13 weeks in E 200/201 and adjoining classrooms for small group break out sessions and large group DVD lecture by Jessica. The cost for the combined studies’ two workbooks is $30.00. To register, contact Leta Barksdale at or

Young Mom’s Bible Study

Room # E201

This group welcomes any mom of newborns or any age child in school.  All children are different and all moms are different, but we can learn from each other’s experiences.  Encouragement, prayer, tears, laughter and help with meals are available to you!  Newborns are always welcome in our study until you and the nursery are ready for each other.  We will meet you wherever you are in your spiritual journey, even if this is your first study.

“God’s heart is moved by your cries for help, your shouts for joy, your unspoken worries.  We know him to be a God of unparalleled power and authority, but Mark’s account of Jesus paints Him as a deeply personal and intimate God too.”

We will also do a study written by Jennie Allen, who graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with a masters in Biblical studies.  Her husband is a Pastor in Austin, Texas.  They have 4 children, one that was adoped from Rwanda.  We will announce that study in the weeks to come.  We will collect money for the book for this study before it begins.

Classes will begin on Wednesdays, January 10th – May 2nd, 2018 in Rooms E-200/201.  Fellowship and breakfast snacks begin at 9:00 when the nursery is open.  Class begins at 9:30 with nursery pick up at 11:30. The book is $15 payable in class with cash or check to KUMC.  Nursery is available with registration by January 3rd.

Please register now to give our childcare ample time to plan for your child.  To register, please complete a Registration Card located at the Welcome Desk, or contact Melinda Dodd directly at 281-797-7334 or at

Weekdays for Men

Accepting His Promises

Room # E200-201

The primary program through which the men of KUMC get into small groups with other men is Accepting His Promise. Our AHP groups provide an opportunity for Christian men who want to grow stronger in their relationship with God to come together for weekly Bible study, prayer, and support. AHP Groups share in authentic life discussions and hold one another accountable so that together they may become better disciples. If you are interested in growing in Christ through vital relationships with other men, please visit the Men’s Calendar for more details about the various AHP groups meeting at KUMC, or email the Church Office to inquire about finding a group to join.
