How can I get plugged in at KUMC?

We invite you to consider three different ways in which you can get to know us better:

  1. While Sunday morning worship is a powerful personal experience, we also believe it’s one of the foundations of our community. Worship is a great opportunity to meet the people of KUMC.
  2. If you’re more comfortable in smaller settings, we invite you to join one of our small groups, which meet on Sunday mornings (Sunday School) or throughout the week. Click the links below for more information.
    1. Sunday School groups
    2. Small Groups
    3. Bible Studies
  3. Finally, there are few experiences like sharing a meal to get to know someone. We think the same is true for our church. The Table is an excellent way to get fed physically and spiritually.

Whether it’s in worship, a small group, or at The Table, we hope to get to know you better! Please contact Rev. Matt Stone in the church office for more information on getting plugged-in to KUMC!

How can I join the church?

Joining the Kingwood United Methodist Church primarily involves three steps: professing your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, being baptized, and making a commitment to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and in particular Kingwood United Methodist Church. If you have already been baptized in another Christian community of faith then we gladly celebrate what God has been doing in your life. If this is the first time you are making a profession of your faith in Christ we will celebrate with you during this moment and will visit with you about baptism. If you are transferring from another denomination or congregation we will primarily ask for your commitment to KUMC. Come forward when you are invited to do so at the end of a worship service and we will welcome you and look forward to discerning the wonderful reason that God is bringing us together in this body.  Kingwood Connect Classes will soon be available to allow you to become more familiar with church membership.

How can I get involved in a small group?

Getting involved in a small group is important so that we can encourage one another in this journey that we call the Christian walk. Many ways to get involved are found throughout the website. Bible studies and Sunday School classes offer good opportunites to begin to meet others. Our pastors are also available to help direct you towards classes and small groups that may be of interest to you.  We also encourage you to pray and be open to where God leads you.

Baptism:

As a United Methodist Church, we affirm both infant and adult baptism as an authentic and powerful experience of the Holy Spirit.  If you are interested in learning more about baptizing your child, we invite you to contact Paula Cade in the church office.  The baptism of a child is one of our greatest opportunities to celebrate the work of God in every life, and reaffirm our commitment to grow as a community.

If you are interested in being baptized, we urge you to contact us as soon as possible.  There are few things in the life of a church that are more exciting than bearing witness to the baptism of a new believer.  We relish the opportunity to celebrate with you as you begin a new journey in Christ.  We invite you to email Rev. Matthew Stone, or call him in the church office to talk more about adult baptism.

Joining the Church - Becoming a Disciple:

We believe God has called KUMC to be about one thing.  We realize that churches can be about many things, but we believe God has called us to be about the making of disciples of Jesus Christ.  Our experience tells us this can be a long and sometimes difficult journey, but that’s exactly why we journey together.  Though it may be difficult at times, we believe the path to discipleship is the most important journey on which we’ll ever embark.  We hope you will join us on that journey.  If you’re interested in being a part of a community of disciples, we want to invite you to consider learning more about KUMC by attending Kingwood Connect.
